Better options for companies
and employees

Todd Lordi started Alternative Benefit Concepts in 2003 for one simple reason- he saw a huge lack of awareness about the viability of self-funded medical plans in the small to mid-size group market.

After working for New England Financial and Great West for 6.5 years specializing in educating brokers, consultants, and small to mid-size employers on this very topic, he set out to establish the first and still only employee benefits firm that specializes in self-insured group medical plans for the smaller employer.

With alternative benefit concepts, Todd Lordi has been able to provide previously undiscovered solutions to companies large and small- helping them save money while providing the quality healthcare they need to attract the quality employees they want.

It’s really amazing to us how many companies are still NOT aware that this option exists- especially given all of the advantages. Consider this- EVERY client company of ours that has converted to a self-funded plan has had 3 impressive results:

• They saved money on their premium

• They upgraded their plan design or avoided downgrading their plan

• They got the opportunity to save even more money based on their own claims experience. This is accomplished through a refund from the carrier or the client never laying out the money to begin with, depending on what type of self-funded plan they have.  90% of our clients in a “level funded” plan have received a refund in the last year.

Think about it. If you had more money and a better health plan, would it be easier for you to attract and retain the talent that you need to stay competitive?

Isn’t that the point in sponsoring a health plan for your employees in the first place?

And now Self-Funding makes more sense than ever for many small employers that are facing challenges related to the Affordable Care Act. Self-Insured plans are NOT subject to the new insurance fee introduced by the ACA and are EXEMPT from Modified Community Rating.

The bottom line is that it’s impossible to make the best decision unless you are aware of ALL your options. We’ve been educating employer groups like yours for over 17 years. It’s that experience that gives us the confidence in our ability to help you make the right decision.

Let’s see if this alternative is right for your company.
